Too many to select.

Check out http://www.tripadvisor.com -- lots of Rome hotels with prices and ratings from actual guests.

Hard to know what you consider a bargain. I consider a bargain differently than I did when I was newly graduated from school. Some might consider a really deluxe hotel at $300 a bargain, others might be looking for something clean around $150. Might help if you give us some guidance.

Oh, and as to hotel reviews, I would also check out venere.com Many more reviews for italian hotels there. (For example, I checked out Residenza Farnese, where we stayed when last in Rome. 2 reviews on Tripadvisor, 168 reviews of the hotel on venere.com )

Good luck.

Check out the hotel reviews here on SlowTrav -- there are some bargains reviewed, and a couple of wonderful-sounding B&Bs.

I found venere.com really helpful- the hotels' airport shuttle schedules were listed for some of the properties I was considering. The site saved me from emailing inquiries to the handful of hotels.

Lots of travelers reviews.
