We're going there for my friends stag weekend and wondered if anyone else can share the experience ii.e bars, clubs, activites. In general the location. We are staying at a 4* hotel called teh Danube during mid-July. I hear it's about 30+ degrees now. Also what not to do and any tips on getting around.

It's small, so walking will get you around the old town (where you'll be tripping over bars and other stag parties) no problem. If you want to head to a club or something later, take a taxi - they're cheap enough, but be specific about where you want to go. Reports from colleagues indicate that taxi drivers get quite a kickback from (allegedly mafia-run) strip bars and brothels, and they've ended up in some rather compromising situations. Just make sure you tell them what you want. And remember that, if you do want to go to that kind of place, you're not in Amsterdam.
As for the old town, you'll find most of the bars are spilt out on to the street at this time of year. There's a big Irish pub (yes, just like every town in the world by now), which is where all the British here-to-drink-until-I-projectile-vomit crowd inevitably end up. Some of the underground (I mean physically rather than metaphorically) bars are more interesting, though - and incredibly cheap.
