Must buys in Prague
My 24 year old daughter will be in Prague for 4 days attending a wedding. Since time is limited, I'd rather she does more sightseeing than shopping. However, she wants to know if there's anything priced reasonably and unique to Prague that she should be looking for if she has time to do some shopping.

Lots of shops all around, selling lots of stuff. Unique to Prague?
Check out the Museum of Communism, interesting exhibits and some neat stuff in lobby gift shop. I should have picked up some original communist-era posters. Just off Wenceslas Square. http://www.muzeumkomunismu.cz/eng_map.html
Also, the Alphonse Mucha museum. Significant creator of Art Nouveau commercial artwork. Did posters for Sarah Bernhardt, and the still-used JOB cigarette paper artwork. Nice giftshop with a variety of posters and other items. Also near Wenceslas Square. http://www.mucha.cz/index.phtml?S=addr&Lang=EN&NoB=1
Finally, depending on personal proclivities, you can pick up some Absinthe. There are a number of Czech brands purporting to be true to the original recipe. Hill's comes to mind. Haven't tried the stuff myself.
Make sure and take the time to sit in an outdoor cafe and watch the world walk by. Old Town Square is nice. The beer is very, very good. Not your father's Budweiser though.

Since this is not specifically related to women traveler's, I'm going to move it to the Europe Forum. Please follow it there. Here's the new link:

Do you know if the amount of lead in Czech crystal wineglasses is low enough for US standards?

My daughter was in Prague several years ago and brought me back a crystal ring holder. It's a cut glass saucer with what looks like the Eiffle tower in the middle (my description does not do it justice, it is really beautiful). I keep it on my night table and use it every night for my rings. Great gift for people back home and also for self.
Have only seen it once in US at a day spa. When I commented on it the therapist just beamed as it was a gift from one of her clients. One of the nicest gifts she'd ever received.

Mrs. PRSPAD, our 17 y/o PRSPAD and I will be in Prague this Thursday for a couple weeks... I know that the Spouse will make a bee-line for a particular antique store and a crystal place. If I remember, I'll price the ring-holders & post the info... An icy-cold Pilsner Urquell seems more important to me than the other!

Bohemia Crystal Ring Holders
As I write this, I'm in Prague with the family and stopped at a small bakery on Nov Město yesterday... Next door at No. 117 was a small crystal gallery with a few asst. Bohemia Crystal ring holders in the window with a CZK 180 price indicated, which is about USD 7.25... Mrs. PRSPAD advises that she's seen the same things priced at about USD 5.00 at the Tuesday Morning Chain in So. California... The bigger Crystal sellers in the touristy areas of Prague more than likely sell this item at 10 times the price!!!

More on Crystal Ringholder Pricing...
I received a PM from someone who requested further on the pricing of Bohemia crystal issue, so I'll share some additional info for the Thread...
We returned from Prague yesterday and I'm sorry to say that pricing information is correct, as far as those particular pieces of Bohemia crystal are concerned... I checked prices for the same identical type ring holders in the big crystal shops around Staromestsk, and they wanted $20-$30 for the same ones that I saw at a little out-of-the-way place for about $7.25! The Tuesday Morning Chain in So. California has had, according to my spouse, Bohemia crystal ring holders at around $5.00. I have bought small Limoges porcelain boxes at Tuesday Morning, when they have them, at about half of what I've paid in France, so it is possible!!!

When I was there about 4 years ago, Moser crystal (which is world-famous) was a very good buy.
Though not unique to Prague, garnets are plentiful and very inexpensive, so she might want to look at garnet jewelry, some of which is quite lovely. (I never saw anything purer than 14kt gold, though.)
