Hello. I'm a newbie to flyertalk. Hopefully, you can all help me out. I heard great things about the people here. I am planning on vacationing in Amsterdam in August, specifically fly out of SFO on August 10 to AMS and return Aug 20. Does anyone know where I should look for the best DIRECT flight? I'm hoping to pay less than a grand. This will be my first time there and hopefully you guys can help.

I will also be visiting Paris. I'll be staying at one of the Hilton Brands there. Does anyone know which one is the cheapest one and not too far from the touristy area, like the Eiffel tower?

Just had a look for you on www.expedia.com, and the cheapest non-stop flight (on KLM) is USF 1140 (August is peak time so you won't find many good deals). The cheapest they had overall was Air Canada via YYZ for USD 934.

This Schiphol board tends to be fairly quiet, and the Paris experts tend to hang out elsewhere. You may get a better response on the Europe forum or on Travelbuzz.
