ZRH to SXB?

Are there any reasonably priced and/or efficient transportation options to get from Zurich airport to the city of Strasbourg?

It's a three-hour train journey, with a change of train at Basel.

The train goes direct from the airport, so that part of it is easy... but when you get to to Basel you have to walk from the Swiss side of the train station to the French side, for which (according to www.bahn.de) you have to allow 15 minutes. Basel SBB and Basel SNCF are part of the same station, but you go through Immigration to get from one side to the other.

The train is the best and quite efficient. At 9'13 or 10'13 in the morning you've got a train going to Olten, there you switch to the train to strassbourg. No need to get off the train at Basel , you go through custom on the train.

If you know at what time you will be going, just type:

www.sbb.ch

go to the English page and look what trains are the most convenient for you. Take one where you have to just switch once.

Have a good trip. If you need more info, just send me a PM.

How far is the ride from BSL? Is it worth flying into BSL and then catching the train into SXB?

The shortsest train ride is 1 hour and 16 minutes. Bear in mind that you'll lose at least 45 minutes from the airport into the city to the train station, buy your ticket, etc.
There is a possibility to get on the train at St. Louis, but that means taking a cab to the station and all the trains do not stop there. Another possibility is to take the bus from the airport to Mulhouse and from there a train to Strasbourg.

All in all, your best bet is to take the train from Geneva, switch in Olten, not a big deal and just relax all the way to Strasbourg. even your wallet will be grateful....

My two cents...
