Linderhof
We'd heard that Linderhof castle is currently covered in scaffolding. Is this true? How long will this last?
Also, is the Grotto open?
We'd like to see Linderhof, and the rest of Ludwig's castles, but not if they're under construction, have key parts closed, etc.

It's a bit ominous. The linderhof official web-site is currently down:

You can see live pictures of all the castes except Linderhof at:

We were there last July and it was covered in scaffolding. I seem to recall someone saying it was a multi-year renovation. But, the grotto was open. Neuschwanstein had some minor renovations going on by the main entrance, but nothing out of the ordinary. I believe Herrn Chiemsee was renovation free.
Too bad, because I thought the Linderhof was the prettiest of the 3. Maybe not as majestic as Neuschwanstein, but my favorite of the three.
