Apfelwein Wagner

Name
Apfelwein Wagner

Address
Schweizer Str. 71
60594 Frankfurt
069/61 25 65
http://www.apfelwein-wagner.com/

Hours
Mo - So from 11:00 - 24:00

Why
The restaurant is located in Sachsenhausen (where there are a lot of similiar restaurants). "Apfelwein Wagner" has lots of tradition and serves specialities "frankfurt style", e.g.
- Frankfurter "grne Soe" (green sauce with herbs) with eggs
- Different kinds of meat with Sauerkraut
The service is rustic - which is part of the experience.

The last time (09/2002) I had "Frankfurter platter from minimum 4 persons". The platter contained grilled pork shoulder, pork knockle, spare ribs, salted ribs, grilled pork belly and sausages with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes. It was enough for 4 people and all were satisfied with the food. The food/meat is quite heavy.

Wagner is the place to go. Or the Apfelwein place next to it, forgot the name. The Schweizerstr. area is better (less tourists) than the other area in Sachsenhausen where all the other restaurants are.. "Klaane Sachsehaeuser" and others.
Warning: The food is not very good, and Apfelwein is not everybody's taste.. Still, go there, you will have fun and it's not expensive at all.
