International Connection
At MXP, during an international connection at Terminal 1, does one recheck bags at a border control, or does one just go to the next gate like one would at a US domestic airport?

I'll answer my own question.
Unlike the USA, the airport isn't considered a port of entry unless you leave it. Therefore, I treat MXP like a USA-domestic airport in that there is no border control and no rechecking of bags. Just a lounge with a shower and nice Zegna shopping.
