Heathrow express disabled friendly?

Does anyone know if Heathrow helps disabled travellers with transfers to the Heathrow express and then if there's some assistance at Paddington upon arrival?

Absolutely. The trains are modern with level access between the platform and the train, and every second carriage features seating with additional space, as well as space for a wheelchair. Even the lavatories are designed to be disabled-friendly.

Full details are available from the Heathrow Express website, along with a contact number. Try this link:

I would try to let them know at least 48 hours in advance when you will be arriving, and what assistance you are likely to need. Hope you enjoy your visit to London!

P.S. Heathrow Express is run separately from the airport - it's therefore a good idea to tell the airline that you will be using the Heathrow Express, and to tell Heathrow Express your flight details.

P.P.S. The UK has had very similar disability discrimination laws to the US since 1995. You can generally expect to have disabled needs catered for (complain if you don't!). The one major exception to this in London is the Underground/subway, where only around 15% of the stations are accessible by wheelchair. Staff do try very hard to help out though. Newer buses and almost all taxis are equipped with ramps, larger doors and the like.
