To/from train station and CDG

Hi,

Can anyone suggest the most economical way to get from Gare du Nord to Place Monge (near the Jardin des Plantes) for six people with luggage?

Also, how about from Place Monge to CDG?

Thanks!

The most economical way from Nord is the metro. The only sensible way is to take 2 taxis.

The get from the Pl. Monge area to CDG:
  • taxi all the way (about 40-45 euro)
  • taxi to Gare de Lyon (about 10-12 euro) and then the Air France bus to CDG (11.5 euro/person).
  • metro/RER, which would be really ugly with baggage

Most of the metro stations in Paris do not have esclators or elevators, so you will have to carry your luggage up and down the stairs. Just be wary of pickpockets, and keep your eyes/hands on your bags at all times!

It is easy to go back from GDN to CDG, and probably takes no more than one hour (45 min), and costs about 12 dollars per person. Make sure you take the RER-B train, and that you know which terminal your flight is leaving from, as there are two stops on the RER-B for CDG.

Is there anything similar to the shuttle services like we have in the States (Prime Time Shuttle etc)?

They tend to run around 20 per person, making taxis the preferred option for larger parties.

You could hire a private minivan, but the cost is around 100 for 6 people.

2 taxis, as suggested by wideman, are actually a competitive offer.
