ZRH connection
Hi,
Am contemplating to connect at ZRH in late Sept from HKG via CX to LJU (Ljubljana) via LX operated by Air Baltic in 85 min on 2 separate air tickets.
Would you recommend it ?
Thanks,
dli

No. I hate the uncertainty of two separate tickets, with zero reprotection in case of IRROPS, so I would not recommend it. If you have checked bags and CX doesn't tag them through (which I believe is oneworld policy now on separate tickets with non-alliance members), it becomes virtually impossible.
This being said, if this connection were on one ticket, I would be very relaxed. In principle, 85min is plenty of time for this connection in ZRH, and if the CX flight arrives on time, everything will go smoothly. And if not, LX would rebook you.

I would do it if the price is acceptable versus any alternatives and you prefer the schedule, which IMO has 99%+ chance of success. The short-haul flight is like max 300 euros, so if you're happy to have a small risk of losing it, choose a day where there are two direct flights. If buying the rescue flight on the spot is too expensive, as long as you don't arrive in ZRH too late in the morning, it should also be possible to get to Slovenia by train that night for a fair price... or there's a sleeper train
