Need Florints in Budapest?

We have a few days coming up in Budapest and I intend paying for everything by card with Euros as a backup plan. Is there any real need to get any florints in cash instead just for 2 days? No plan to do anything "unusual" or outside of the city, and taxis will be card only.
TIA

Hi,
Some places may be cash only. Some tourist shops were advertising taking Euro's when I was there in Nov 2022 ( exchange rate may be poor). Not sure if taxis have a surcharge for cards

Maybe useful to have some euro coins also ( wc's etc)

If visiting the major attractions , you can probably get by with the card & euros

Regards

I'd say about 98% of places you're likely to do business with as a tourist take cards. Euros should be more than fine as a backup.

Countries like Hungary or Poland are now better in accepting credit/debit cards than many countries in Western Europe. We spent 4 days in in BUD last year and paid for everything with credit cards: bus from/to BUD, subway, meals in the restaurants, water and small snacks at local grocery stores, stuff at Starbucks etc. No need to have Forints.

PS. We have never used taxis as subway system is very efficient and stayed at Interconti that is within the walking distance to the airport bus stop (we traveled HBO).

Sounds like you will be fine without them based what you will be doing but do make sure to be smart and ask the restaurant, for example, that they take cards before sitting down.

Personally I would have at least 10K Forints with me just in case, but that's just me.
