Visiting Auschwitz

Trying to find out info on visiting Auschwitz. Conflicting posts. From their website I understand that everybody needs to have a pass/ticket to get in. We want to go without guide, but I'm unable to find the link to book the tickets. Any help is appreciated.

A few years go I went there with Polish friends - we surely had no guides, walked around by ourselves. I think they bought the tickets on site. (If your handle is a refence to your origin, prepare for a deeply shocking and sad visit)

There was an excellent trip report on Auschwitz and Birkenau written by PTravel. Sombre and respectful. I'll see if I can find it.

It's possible to arrange your own visit. In my view it should be compulsory for all
