Visa for Ukraine (transiting through Belarus)

So I'm going to catch a flight from Saint Petersburg, Russia to Kiev. But it requires a stop in Minsk, Belarus.

I'm from U.S. so don't need a visa for Ukraine. But do I need one for transiting through Belarus?

AFAIK (!) Russian visas are valid for entry to Belarus - the flights might iven be handled as domestic

While there are no borders, you need a separate visa for Belarus. Because the flight from LED to MSQ is treated as a domestic one, technically you won't be crossing borders. I would call up a Belarus consulate to clear this one up.

TIMATIC does say: "Transit without visa for holders of onward tickets for a max. transit time of 24 hours."

Still unsure on this one. I've asked several folks and all are uncertain.

Update: I think I'll just skip flying through Belarus. I'll fly Air Baltic instead which has its stop in Latvia (do not need Visa for that country).
