Styria
Anyone familiar with this area of southern Austria? Thumbs up, thumbs down?
Obviously, I know there is personal taste involved, but if you have any comments either way.
I'm looking to stay here, most probably at the Loisium hotel in Ehrenhausen for three nights at the end of August. Will be after a cruise with some pals who will be flying home directly from Athens, and I plan to fly into Vienna instead and drive down here by myself.
I am really into modern hotels plunked down in regions you wouldn't expect, and have wanted to stay at the Loisium for some time. Plus, I love spas, and I hear Styria is lousy with them.
Any feedback would be awesome.

Definitely ^ . Head west from where you are and go to the South Styria wine road. Beautiful scenery. Genuss Regal is worth gong to to try regional products. Pumpkin seed oil is a great souvenir (depends on vintage, and producer).
p.s. Styria/Steiermark is quite big. Goes all the way to near Hallstaat (town called Bad Aussee) near-ish Salzburg.
