Visa questions
Hi
I am planning to travel to Europe this summer. I will be applying for Visa a french consulate in Atlanta for a short stay 90 day visa.
My Trip is broken in 2.
1- US to Paris(CDG) and then take a train or car to Germany and back to Paris, from where I will fly to India.
2- India to Amsterdam where I plan to stay for 2-3 days and then to US.
My only question is, Do I need a separate visa to enter Amsterdam during the 2nd part of my travel? (Assuming I get a multiple entry short stay visa or atleast 2 entry visa.)
Any help appreciated

No, you won't need a separate visa to make the visit to Amsterdam, assuming (as you say) that this visit fits in with the requirements of the visa (which it will do). You are correct to apply through the French mission, but once the visa is issued it is valid for all the Schengen countries.

Yes, but my experience with dealing with the French is that they will often issue single entry visas unless you specifically badger them for a multiple entry visa. The price of each is the same, so it is a reminder to stress that he needs a multiple entry visa, otherwise he will need to get a new one for his return leg.

Class "C" Schengen visas have a flat application fee of 60 Euros, except for children and citizens of Albania, Bosnia&Herzegovina, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Russia, Serbia and Ukraine. There is no additional fee for a multiple entry or longer validity "C" visa.
