Transiting thru DME

A friend of mine might have to take a flight from MUC to BKK, connecting in DME. The question is can a US citizen transit thru DME without a Russian Visa. I ask because I know some airports (i.e. US aiports and TXL) do not have transit area for connecting to an international flight and all transit passengers must have visas for that country in order to connect to another international flight.

No visa is required if you are transiting on an international flight at DME.

Although, if others are reading this, there are actually two routes where you will need to get a transit visa for an international flight. This is if you are transiting on your way to/from Belarus or Kazakhstan as these flights go from the domestic terminal rather than the international terminals.
