Prague, Budapest, Paris and Madrid would be my current order. I loved London but haven't been there in 14 years so I don't think it would be fair to include on the list.

Nobody has mentioned Athens, I have award seats on hold from the U.S to Athens then home from Istanbul for a March trip. Because of Match weather we wanted to stay a bit south and have 8 nights to fill; any suggestions for plan B? I know this is a European forum but what about Cairo or Alexandria for 2 older American travelers then Istanbul - we want to use Hilton points. I have until April 24 to ticket.

I haven't been to Istanbul but surely such a big city could keep you entertained for 4 days.
As for Athens, I recently revisited after not having been there for many years and I was very pleasantly surprised by the change the city had undergone - I enjoyed my time there very much.
And the Hilton is a really nice hotel - very good lounge.
See post 338 in this thread for a short review :

Maybe look at Izmir as a stopover between Athens and Istanbul if you want one more destination.
I recently looked at it in connection with a future trip to Athens and it looked interesting enough and there's a Hilton and a Doubletree.

I'd go to Europe on a longer vacation and book a separate Egyptian holiday from there. Flights, airport airport transfers, the help of a local representative of the travel bureau, etc. - you are taken care of in all aspects. And then just purchase short sightseeing trips from there (the local rep will surely be planning/selling them).
I once paid the equivalent of $1,000 (per person) for a trip to Sharm, including return flights, hotel transfers, 2 weeks' stay at the Hilton Dreams, breakfasts and dinner buffets included. Loved it. Don't think I would want to arrange everything separately myself though, too much of a hassle and it probably won't be that good of a deal either.
