transfer at budapest
I have recently tried a connection from lca to ham via bud. flying with malev is absolutely ok. but the transfer was pure chaos. just made it within a 2 hr connecting time. masses of people queuing before stressed security people. I have asked some malev people if this was exceptional. they said at certain hub hours in morning / evenings this is normal. shame because the airline and the airport are ok. any other recent experiences ?

Not recent, but a few years ago went ZAG-BUD-LHR on MA (but BA codeshare to LHR).
I now laugh when told on landing "if you need any assistance, contact our ground staff or any of our OneWorld Alliance Partners."
It wasn't so much the alliance that revolves around you but rather tells you to sit and spin.
MA were utterly useless. Couldn't get BP issued for LHR-BUD at ZAG (fair enough, third party), but still, it was MA. Get to BUD and go to transfer desk. Can MA issue the BP. No. Have to wait for BA gate to open and have BA issue the BP. Of course couldn't do OLCI as it was code share on MA ticket stock.
Hopefully it has changed since then.
