A random Turkey visa on arrival question
I noticed on a recent trip that the wording on the visa sticker has now changed (UK passport). It now states
MULTIPLE ENTRY VISA VALID FOR AN INTENDED
STAY OF NO MORE THAN 90 DAYS PER PERIOD
180 DAYS DURATION BEGINS ON THE DATE OF
ENTRY TO TURKEY. HOLDER HAS NO RIGHT TO WORK
Would you agree this means that:
* The sticker is valid for 180 days
* I can visit as many times as I want in the 180 days
* So long as the total time spent in country does not exceed 90 days
This might seem a stupuid question (and indeed it probably is) but I'd like to be sure and the information elsewhere is a touch ambiguous.

Your logic sounds right, which is indeed a recent change from 90 days. When are you going back to check ? I'm back in September, 92 days after my last visit, which would make this serendipitous....
hmmm - just checked my passport and while the design of my recent entry stamp has changed, the wording is clear as being valid for 90 days, no mention of 180 days at all (also UK passport).... which ties in with the Turkish Consulate advice here. Swanny, when did you pick up this stamp (iirc, was same day as me, no ?)

The sticker is valid ulimited. You are only allowed to stay up to 90 days in a period of 180 days in Turkey. For example if you stay 90 consecutive days you have to leave Turkey and can't enter Turkey within the next 90 days or you would violate the 180 days rule. After that you can enter again using the same sticker in my opinion. No need to buy a new on.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_3 like Mac OS X; en-gb) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8J2 Safari/6533.18.5)
No issues about it's being multi-entry, but the norm for UK passports is 90 day validity only - I entered Turkey 31 May and got that, which is also what is noted on the Turkish consulate (UK) website and the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs site. My guess is that Swanhunter got a US stamp (ie intended for US passports by mistake) - I look forward to hearing what happens on his next entry....

I got mine on the 25 May before heading back the following week. Like Stewie Mac I was bit perplexed as the visa for UK passports was always 90 days only.
Maybe I did get a Schengen area/US stamp by mistake. I'll be back and forth over the summer so the end of August will be an interesting test...
Thanks for the input, I'll report back.

Swanhunter,
Does your latest visa (with the confusing 180 days terms) state '10' on the bottom of it ? The 'old' UK ones used to have 10/15/$20 iirc, but the one I got last month has only a sterling cost on it....
On a related note, did you pay in or in /$ ?

So, it was only valid for 3 months. The unusually friendly agent explained that as I had a British passport that is the maximum time you can use a visa for regardless of what it actually says.
New one procured, cost of GBP10. Can't recall exactly what it says as the offending official document is currently with the Chinese embassy.

Closing this down, my most recent visa has the same wording but with a large, inky 90 DAYS stamped over it. Someone made a mistake when having the visas printed I guess.
