Getting to TBS
I'm planning a trip to Tbilisi in the fall, and looking at options to get there from NYC. I'd be grateful for any comments on the various airlines that serve TBS and, in particular, LH, BD and CSA. I'm hoping to use miles for a Business class ticket, but if that doesn't work, I may be buying a coach ticket, so comments on either class would be useful.
A friend who lives there likes LH (but I believe she's HON, so presumably treated very well by them)--if I take them, though, I've got a really long layover in MUC. Similar layover issue for CSA. BD seems to have the most civilized departure, which leaving LHR would work well with an overnight flight from the States, and arrival time (seems to be the only airline that doesn't arrive in TBS in the middle of the night), but they stop in Baku, adding needless hours of travel, they don't fly every day and I'd have to leave a day earlier than I would like (plus, if there's an IRROP that probably makes it so much more difficult). On a quick look, I didn't see any FF availability on Turkish Air, and I've heard not great things about them but would certainly consider them. I don't want to connect in Russia so that means no Aeroflot.
