Brussels Restaurants

I'm in Brussels right now visiting some friends over the holidays. I'd like to take them out for a nice dinner to repay their hospitality. Does anyone have any suggestions for a nice place, perhaps someplace newer that they might not have been to before? I am in the Saint-Gilles section if that helps at all.

Thanks for your help!

I realize this is like a month late, but I LOVE Le Roy Despagne in La Grand Place or Groot Markt. http://www.roydespagne.be/index.html...age2=1&lang=en. I also suggest having a Hoegaarden which is a terrific white ale.

This thread is slow in developing and obviously no longer of use to the OP, but could be of use to someone else.

I remember having a drink at Le Roy d'Espagne, but my impression is that it is more of a pub than someplace you would take someone for a nice dinner.

For traditional Belgian food, I would suggest Aux Armes de Bruxelles, but if you are going with Belgians who might want something different, I would use Michelin to try to find something more interesting.

Another two places to go to:

For Belgian beer, a classic place is la morte subite off the Grand Place.

A restaurant in the area of Avenue Louise, La Quincaillerie.

Morte Subite...classic indeed. I've quaffed many a Leffe Blonde there - do they even serve food, lol?

I like the Belga Queen for a unique dining experience. Former bank, I believe, converted into a somewhat avant garde restaurant. The clear glass bathroom doors that frost over when you close the stall door are in a story I'll have to tell forever.

Las time I was there I think I remember we had some cheese and some cold cuts but they were far from enough for the numbers of beers we had .
