What you're seeing isn't guest seat pricing but cash conversion pricing at those rates

I see - does that just mean there is no availability or am I doing something wrong? Thanks!

On most routes there is now very limited availability, and I suspect a certain amount is pre-allocated so never becomes available. Once the only GuestSeat(s) available are booked they will not become available again unless someone cancels a GuestSeat. With the new changes to GuestSeat cancellation policy, I'm not sure if this will improve the situation or make it worse.

You can use websites like SeatSpy.com to see when there is availability by filtering for the lowest mileage needed that has availability on that route/class

Etihad Travel Rewards will no longer be available from July 1st 2024. You will be unable to book beyond 1st July 2024. Apologies for the inconvenience.

So they're removing booking cars and hotels using miles now. But I presume booking GuestSeats with miles will still be available, if not the whole programme becomes pointless.

It almost is pointless. There are so few seats available at normal mileage rates that you basically can't use them. I was looking at a flight to LHR in September and it is cheaper to use miles to fly in First class (120k miles) than it is in Business (250k miles).

Forget Guest Seats.
Aim for Biz Value seats - these can be lower cost, and the miles-to-cash ratio used on them isn't terrible. These redemptions also earn miles + tier miles. The net difference works out not too bad and availability is excellent.

Biz Value seat is 250k miles AUH-LHR...that's a terrible value vs First Guest Seat at 120k
