A380 - retired but returning to service on some routes by Summer '23

From the OMAAT website, it sounds like it's very likely that the A380 will be retired by Etihad.
Not surprised.
Disappointed, very much so.

Sad but not surprising, now even more difficult to use my Travel Bank after taking advantage of the 50% boost..... How long before they just pull the plug and hand it to Emirates !

12 Mar 2021 (ExecTrav AU) ---->Etihad CEO doubts his Airbus A380s will ever return
We'll probably never see Etihad's opulent Residence or spacious first class Apartment suites again.

Etihad Airways now looks almost certain to retire all ten of its Airbus A380s, which have been grounded since March 2020 – closing a chapter of ambitious innovation in which the Gulf carrier sought to re-invent first class flying.

With demand for high PRASM fares not likely to recover until 2024, the A380 and most especially real-estate heavy cabins such as F/J are dinosaurs.

End of an era. Really disappointing, as I had hoped to fly The Apartment again post pandemic.

Sadly no, if the dates had been 1 week earlier I would have made it!

According to ausbt, Emirates will be bringing back its A380s for the Australia routes in late 2021. Glimmer of hope for Etihad?

All 10 A380s are under "Historic" column (status is "Stored"), not under "Parked". I check the other airlines like Qatar Airways, Emirates, they are under "Parked". Lufthansa & Air France's A380s are under "Historic" column too, status is "Stored".

No A380 in Etihad's website on fleet:
https://www.etihad.com/en-sg/fly-etihad/our-fleet

No "The Residence" under "Our Cabins":
https://www.etihad.com/en-sg/fly-etihad/our-cabins

Looks like Etihad's A380 is confirmed gone. This is so sad....

One went over my house a few weeks back (I live near AUH) and I was so surprised to see one in the sky that I looked it up on FlightRadar. It was off to Tarbes, probably on its final journey
I felt quite emotional!

Wow writing those down at what at least $5B for all ten will take years to make back

So sad

Emirates is a very different airline (strategy, execution, how they compete etc etc) . Zero correlation. I’m amazed EY has survived this long. Actually.

Qatar, Emirates, and Qantas are both bringing their A380s back. Does this suggest Etihad may also do the same?

Without the A380s, EY doesn't really have any differentiating factor but with its current financial state, most likely the A380s won't be brought back
