Champagne in F
I'm flying two legs with EY F next week. Just read a review on OMAAT, and saw they don't serve Bollinger anymore? Only Billecart Salmon?
Is this a temporarily thing?

Billecart vintage tastes better than Bollinger Grand Anee in my opinion.
I find it funny that so many people only consider the brand name not the exact champagne.
For example I've just booked EVA, and asked if they are serving Krug.
Some people are disappointed that they are serving Veuve Grand Dame as opposed to Dom Perignon. What most don't realise is that Dom is the prestige cru of Moet & Chandon, and Veuve Grand Dame is as good if not better than an average DP vintage.
Yes, there was once a time when the basic Bollinger cost more most of the other NV champagnes, but were not comparing the NV Bollinger, for a start. Bollinger Grand Anee retails for significantly less that Veuve Grand Dame or DP. Much less than Krug. Its not really a comparison to most prestige cuvees. Billecart Vintage is certainly a better bet.

I thought they were serving Duval Leroy ?? Or is that because I ask for the rose
Oh and anyone in the UK who wants to save a fortune on Billecart Salmon Rose, they bottle Fortnum and Mason's rose champagne with it £43 versus £85 !!

Just did two segments in EY F (LHR-AUH-LHR) and another two in QR F (DOH-BKK-DOH).
EY had the 06 Billecart, which was fine. Qatar served Krug in F. Unfortunately the three bottles were gone in the first 40 minutes (the also served it on the ground before take off). Also QR stopped serving Krug in the F/J lounge on A380.
Qatar First class lounge in Doha served Taittiner Comtes de Champagne.
I realize that taste perception is very different 30,000 feet up, but I can definitely tell the difference between Krug and others.
Flew JAL First a number of times and had a chance to down a bottle of Salon 02 and 04. Again even at cruising altitude Salon tastes very differently than anything else.
Another trick to consuming vintage champagne on the plane is to have it served in a red wine glass and let it breathe. Some flight attendants know why you request your bubbly in the "wrong".
