May i make a suggestion that im sure would benefit both Etihad and its loyal customers.
Keep your new rates as published, but allow for discounted rates for Etihadguest silver, gold, and platinum members when redeeming miles for guest seats or upgrades. Something in the likes of 15% for silver, 25% for gold, and 35% for platinum. This would reduce the upgrade cost back to rates similar to july 8 levels, and in turn entice people to stay with Etihad but also fly more to attain gold / plat to get the higher discounted rate. |

yep there wasn't much in it pre the changes (from Europe going east anyhow) now there is a huge difference. Only real benefit is the family account with EY :(
Did your analysis also factor in the co-pay option that reduces the points required for EY redemptions in turn for a modest cash amount? |

And when a drastic devaluation is ushered in with scant notice, and when Etihad (and you, as their mouthpiece here) constantly imply stuff along the lines of "this is what the customer wants" or that this is, somehow, better, how "sustainable" is your programme?
Now you think twice before you pay a C or F seat complete with miles because it is so expensive. You better do an upgrade which will cost from July 8th almost as much as the whole reward now. So etihad will make more revenue with paid tickets (which you normaly will not buy so long in advance) because they are easier or more probable to upgrade. That also explains that Y rewards will stay the same price. Just my 2 cents.... |

Yes, [email protected] . They first gave me a form response offering me a Silver (within 12 hours!) but then when I explained the situation again (disappointed with changes at Guest, top tier with EY for 7 years, want to try out EK for my surplus mileage as there's no longer a point in keeping 100% of my 250,000 status miles per year with EY), they told me they would escalate the case to management.
I imagine there are meetings going on in EK right now to figure out how to best capitalise on this. Write in - I reckon the more people they hear from the more likely they will be to provide a like-for-like offer. |
If I book something before July 8th. Post this date, am I able to make changes at the current rates free of charge? I'm EY Gold.

Do you want to sit in Y for such a long flight ? And I don't think you will waste 166.000 miles for DUB-MEL rt in Y.....
If EY want to reconfigure their programme to being more suitable for those looking to redeem in Y - as all of the changes in redemption rates indicates that they are - then good luck to them! (That said, I have done Europe to Australia in economy many times!!) |

Yikes, a simple AUH-BOM F flight is now 31835 miles, a 50% increase. :O

+1 Mike, I like it. May I also suggest that the blackout on upgrading Breaking Deals seats be waived for higher tier members.
Perhaps you should send an email to Guest with your comment as well, I think it's a good one. Thing is, Etihad have to keep something in their Guest program that differentiates from others and attracts people remain loyal to them, eroding the program so that it's just like the others will mean that the EY is making it much too easy for customers to leave EY and go down the road and fly on EK instead, EY is not offering anything so special that EK cannot. For example, I took 3 flights in J last year JFK to Asia, on all three I used EY even though the timing of flights and frequency (to HKG and SIN) was not optimal for me, but the enticement of the miles and retaining status certainly kept me on EY. Now, I will reconsider and start using EK or CX for my flights this year, and I'm sure there are others like me who may do the same. |

Wouldn't it be lovely to know that an airline that we all berate for customer service (albeit rightly so given my bitter experiences) had actually taken onboard our (some of their most loyal customers, after all) suggestions, and actually acted upon them? A mod should turn this into a poll or a petition so that we can all put our name to it. |

This is a fabulous idea, and I'm only sitting on silver.
