Mini Trip Report
Just flown EK419/EK911 in F; it was one of the best trips I have ever taken with EK, partly because the cabin was empty (except for BKK-DXB that went full house as some passengers were bumped up).
Few remarks:
- Menus seem that have gone a little shorter than before; there is variety but the serving size has been downsized as far as I can see, but still tastes great.
- Crews were super responsive; I liked that a lot.
- On the 77W (ECE rego) the window shades buttons do not work.
- No duvet/mattress on 772 EK911 (though last year they had them)
- Chauffeur drive in SYD finally sent us a Merc (and a Holden).
- Noticed flies in the SYD lounge toilettes as well as on the food
First time ever seen something like this in a controlled enrivonment. Noted this to the lounge staff who mobilised right away.
- No more the famous lemon lime on ME routes, though it still features on the menu in Arabic. The attendant said it was withdrawn about 2 months ago.
- Cabin crew SYD-BKK, the best ever. They went the extra mile in everything they did plus a genuine smile (might have been because only 3 pax out of 8 seats).
- Now the new F lounge in DXB: No hair dryers in the showers (both M and F). A small issue, the soap dispensers in the showers were so high that me thinks even if I was 2 meters high, they'd still look high. Shower pressure wasn't special either, it sort of sucked actually. A bit of let down because I liked the lounge and the 'serene' atmosphere it has; announcements were loud but nothing crazy.
- Was lucky to get gate 210 for DAM; meaning bussed for 15 minutes to the remotely parked 772.
- Luggage in DAM came out about 15 minutes after the first batch, even though it was tagged priority F.
Looking forward to my next flight in 2 weeks, TUN-DXB in F, then DXB-BEY in J, will report on that.
