Duty Free in Transit

Hi All

I'm going to fly from London to Seoul via Dubai soon. I want to buy a bottle in duty free in London but am worried that I won't be able to take it through security when transiting in Dubai. Can anyone advise?
Thanks!

Why don't you just buy it at DXB?

If duty free in London uses Security Tamper-Evident Bags for your purchase, it will be acceptable at Dubai security, otherwise it will be confiscated.

In my opinion, Dubai Duty Free is way better, and in many cases cheaper than the LHR. Check out http://www.dubaidutyfree.com/index.asp. There selections are way better than LHR too.

You can use credit cards or UK pounds in DDF, so you dont have to worry about taking AED with you either.

If you do however, want to buy in the UK you can take liquids though in transit without problem if it is in the specific bag.

I think the shopping experience in London is far superior ......... atleast the airport is not a mobbed Zoo!!! .......... in particular, the alcohol shopping areas.

I did have that security- tamper evident bags, sealed and carried it through the Dubai airport with no problem. I must say, that I got it from the actual Emirates flight and not in LHR. So, take take this info for what it's worth.........

IMHO, the security hassle of duty free these days is such that it is way not worth it unless you have a non-stop flight.

Plus, duty free prices seem to be at around the same level as buying in the US--maybe even more.
