EK in Y has great service, and one that has brought me back to try it in Biz (I did BKK-HKG last year), but my one complaint is that their Y seats are a bit snug. I'm 6'3" and my legs were supporting the table on the 1st row of the Y cabin...
....although I'd do it again...the best padding in coach of any plane I have ever been on.

it helped out a lot
. The 200LR is used on this route. I wonder how the A330's of emirates are? (all of a sudden this AF crash is freaking me out with the pitot tube thing). Well i would be flying out a on weekday and coming back to BLR on a weekday so hopefully no problems there.

Of course, it is probably far more risky being on the road in BLR or COK or pretty much anywhere in India.
Have a good flight and tell us how it went.

So right now my options are CX and EK both in Y. CX is turning out to be somewhat cheaper. But i have to wait in HKG both ways, which honestly i dont really mind. My dad is scared im going to get caught in HKG with this whole swine flu crap (on the way back from home to india).

I believe there is an offer for Y passengers from Emirates that allows them to use the Marhaba lounge if they are traveling in or out of the U.S. AND their delay at DXB is between 3 and 8 hours.

I flew CX last week HKG-YVR on the new Y, everything was good except the seat.I did not get any sleep on the whole 12 hour flight !!!
I dont think i will be putting CX as first choice anymore, even though i never fly EK before but im very keen to fly with them one day !!!!

The service from the FA wasnt that friendly either, as it was a full and packed flight.
The SIN-HKG leg was more friendly as the flight was only 156/311 passengers on board.
You can can some ideas about my flight

What other choices do you have? If your other alternates are all in just Y, EK is definitely a better choice. Main reason for that is ICE. Even in Y class you do get the superb entertainment option of EK, which is not possible in many other Y choices out of BLR. Believe me that really helps on such ultra longhaul flights.

. Cathay is the cheapest, next would be EK, then Singapore (if i can get it but most likely i wont be able to). Thai is out because i dont like the arrival time into LAX. Other airlines would be circuitous so thats no good.
