Price drop

I bought an emirates economy ticket for $1600 a few months ago from the emirates website (JFK to DXB)...the price has now dropped to $1460 on the website. Not sure if this is the best place to ask, but I was wondering whether Emirates provides refunds for fare drops?

Thanks!

Emirates charges $200 for a change. If the price had dropped by more than $200, a change to your reservation would have been sensible.

Consider this: if the fare on your route had increased by $140, could Emirates charge you more?

$1460 is a good fare in comparison to a similar ticket from last summer.

On 29 December I paid 5647 UK pounds for flights to KUL form LHR via DXB. The first leg was in F and the remaining sectors were in C( as the 777-300 was only 2 class). On 22 April I noticed that the exact same flights had been reduced to 4257 UK pounds, a drop of 1390 UK pounds. I had to cancel the original booking and was told it would cost 200 pounds per passenger to do this. It was only after I sent an email to EK with a copy of the fare conditions showing the cancellation fee would be 75 pounds did they relent and refunded me my money less the correct cancellation fee. I then spotted on this forum that EK were introducing the A380 to BKK and I could get fly LHR-DXB-BKK return all in F for 3300 pounds through netflights (and including three free nights stopover in DXB) so once again I cancelled my flights. Once again EK staff insisted that the fee would be 200 pounds per passenger. I pointed out that they had tried it on with me before and after some discussion with the internet booking team, they are seeking to have the cancellation fee reduced to 100 pounds. The moral of this is to check and print off the fare conditions when you get your ticket. That is your contract with EK and will state exactly how much will be charged for cancellations.

Further to my message above, EK called today to confirm that the cancellation charge would be 100 per passenger and not 200 as they originally stated.
