EK new baggage allowances

HI guys,

Emirates will be simplifying their baggge allowances across the network (not sure if this is gonna impact the piece concept places) from the 4th May 09 to the following:

Economy: 30KG
Business: 40KG
First: 50KG

Ofcourse skywards members get the standard extra silver/gold 12/16kg on top of this.

THe source was my travel agent who emailed me the emirates promotional mailshot... you can verify it by calling ur local skywards office. I called the dxb skywards line on sunday, they didnt have any info, but i called the uk office and they confirmed. Also my ticket now states 40kg

I just checked both of mine and my wife's bookings, SYD-DXB in F, still showing 40KG.
Does this rule apply to older bookings, or just for new ones only?

Iam very confused. On Emirates website it says it applies to all flights booked after 4th May? My flight was booked a while ago and I fly out on 10th May so am I going to lose out on this new baggage allowance?

Have they updated their website?

Right now it says:

Announcement

The Emirates baggage policy changed with effect from 4th May 2009. The new policy applies to all tickets purchased before or after this date regardless of the allowances shown on your ticket. Use the calculator below to work out what you can take with you.

After a few emails from disgruntled people they changed the wording this morning to include everyone, so now it applies to everyone, but they definitely changed their text 3 times.

Big-up to EK for voluntarily increasing baggage allowance above industry standard! I was sceptical when I saw the post - but it's true!
