You can see the services offered here:

http://www.emirates.com/ae/english/f...onnSeq=1750278

They serve two full meals and one additional snack. You can get drinks and other snacks any time from the flight attendants. ICE the inflight entertainment system is one of the best in the world. There are over 1,000 channels of TV/Movies/Games/Music including movie offerings in several different languages. (Multiple South Asian languages, European, Chinese, etc)

The seats are comfortable for coach. Towards the back the aircraft narrows so there are less seats per row.

There is a power source as well as USB plugs. You'd have to check with EK to see if you need any adapters. They don't yet offer full inflight e-mail/internet service but you can send e-mails and SMS messages for $1 each. Once you scan your card, your account stays open the whole flight and thus a person can also reply back to you and you can see the e-mail on the video screen.

Also if you are travelling in May, you can get double miles if you are enrolled in Skywards and then enroll for the promotion:

http://www.skywards.com/Offer_detail...tcm:136-414369

Just a round trip to Dubai would yield 32,352 miles plus the miles for any onward connecting flights.

i take this flight twice a month. i fly emirates almost exclusively as of Aug 08. i usually fly economy but get upgraded to biz class about 50% of the time. sometimes i buy a biz class ticket or use miles if i'm not in the mood to stomach economy. but i've flown both economy and biz on this leg.

most of my flights connect to somewhere in africa. the only other airline i fly is virgin when i go to europe. i've flown many times: aa, united, ba, air france, klm, lufthansa, south african, kenya, etc. emirates is a no brainer even with the extra trip length. plus emirates is usually cheaper. by at least a couple hundred bucks in economy. and the service is MUCH better.

biz on emirates = first class on united/aa. economy you still get ICE (your own movies, music, etc.), AC 110V and USB. i plug my iphone into the USB and my laptop into the power outlet. between those and ICE, and about 6 hours of sleep i make it through the 16hr flight with no problems.

if you need a little extra room chose a seat in the 2-seat row right as the seats change from 3 per row to 2 per row. 38J? i can't remember.
