Emirates.com vs. Expedia & sedat selection

Emirates.com vs. Expedia & sedat selection
Hi there -
As a Flying Blue Platinum member juming ship I am booking my first LH flight with Emirates (and have just signed up to Skywards).
I have seen that booking online with EMirates gives bonus miles and allows you to choose your seat.
Expedia, however, is 15 cheaper (and the method that I am used to) - can I still choose my seats online if I choose Exedia rather than Emirates.com (with no status)

yes, you can do it in Manage my Booking on www.emirates.com provided you have your PNR

Thanks, I was going to book on emirates.com last night but the website wouldn't confirm my booking for me - so, back to good old Expedia it is!
And to think that we always complain about af.com on the Flying Blue forum...
