Make sure you book it in advance, however.
You can also reserve it over the phone.
Last time I upgraded to J using Skywards miles, I had to be transferred to Skywards to make the Chauffeur Drive service.

I would not count on it. Flew DXB-GRU a few months ago and got a confirmed upgrade to J. Confirmed Chauffeur Drive in DXB and GRU. Called EK the night before the flight just to double-check and was told that my CD reservation was cancelled, because CD is not available for upgraded tickets. So essentially was left stranded, without the time to even pre-arrange my own transport at GRU. Made a big fuss and they promised to give me an "exception" on the way back and set up CD for me. The car, of course, never showed up, so once again I had to scramble to find my own transport to GRU.
Beware of EK - they are now trying to cut corners every place possible!

This is getting confusing. I have upgraded 3-4 times from Y to J in the last 12 months and have always confirmed and always received the CD in Toronto and Dubai.
I checked the T&C of the CD service on the EK website; I clearly remember reading a point stating that upgrades using Skywards miles WERE eligible, but it seems that the T&Cs have been changed and this clause has disappeared.
http://www.emirates.com/english/plan...onditions.aspx
-> Chauffeur-drive service is available to Skywards Members and Frequent Flyer Members on other airlines redeeming miles for Emirates First and Business Class tickets.
-> Chauffeur-drive service is not available on complimentary tickets or complimentary upgrades from Economy Class to Business Class.
NONE of the terms and conditions currently address upgrades using Skywards; the T&Cs are 'silent' on this matter.
I don't know how they deal with these upgrades anymore but most likely, neither do most of their employees...
But, totally agree that EK is finding ways to cut corners EVERYWHERE...

Never heard of EK not supplying CD services for upgrades using miles. Have upgraded my sons, and daughter and wife and they have always been given CD. Have got two of them flying next week and have confirmed CD on all legs.

I upgrade Y2J frequently for the final sector DXB-BHX, I am always offered a CD to get me home, I think the maximum free mileage is 60, anything in excess of 60 is chargeable.

I am on EK380 (DXB - HKG) today on a upgrade ticket. Have my CD confirmed to the Intercontinental Grand Stanford and back and is clearly mentioned on the E-Ticket. Hope I won't get stood up at HKG airport

Glad to report that everything went smoothly. Got out of HKIA and found that CD was waiting for me. Was in my hotel room in half an hour ^

I'd be very upset if they canceled that service for upgrade tickets. I mostly use my miles to get an upgrade in and out of London, if I am not traveling J anyway. When I have two heavy bags, the car service to get me to the airport in a relaxed frame of mind is a big plus point and a major reason for flying EK. Minicabs have let me down in the past and getting the train is a real pain with two suitcases - one of which is normally filled with presents for the kids!
Anyway, just booked my next set of Y flights and had no problem adding a car to the upgraded booking - so hopefully it is not something that is being brought in.

I should note that my upgrade was a complimentary upgrade I received in compensation for flying LHR-DXB in a broken J seat (bolt-upright the entire flight). I wasn't as upset with the fact that EK didn't provide CD, as I was with the fact that they cancelled my booking without even notifying me!
But perhaps they haven't yet cut back on the mileage upgrade CD benefits...

I had flown Emirates several times to Dubai on business, but never able to book a chauffeur drive. There is no direct flight from my point of origin to Dubai, so I have to fly in another airline to Frankfurt for an Emirates connection. Most of the times, the tickets were not endorsed by Emirates (according to Emirates), so no chauffeur drive.
I would avoid Emirates, but it is the only airline flying to Europe from Dubai departing on regular hours and not in the early hours in the morning, such as Lufthansa.
