Changing an Upgraded Flight

What would be the rules regarding flight changes on an Upgraded Economy-Business Class fare?

As the ticket is now ticketed as a Business Class fare, would it be correct in saying it should be followed under the business fare rules?

I was having a little trouble understanding the rules, but I think for Economy its $100 plus fare difference, and for Business just the fare difference, but it seemed to say $100 too...

Rules are not based on the class travelled but rather the fare basis. A business class ticket could, for example, have a $500 change fee attached to it (as some LHR-DXB C class fares do.) Similarly, an economy class fare could allow free changes. Therefore, after you upgrade your ticket, the change penalties will stay the same as the fare basis has not changed.

Cheers,

Thanks Sadiqhassan, But I have a few more questions,

Today, I called EK and managed to change my booking to EK413 on the A380.

Fortunently, the fare was the same, even though when I checked online, it was about 80 NZD more expensive.

My Fare rules state the following-

PENALTIES
CHANGES ANY TIME CHANGES PERMITTED FOR REVALIDATION. NOTE - DATE CHANGE BY
REVALIDATION IS PERMITTED WITHOUT PENALTY WITHIN THE SAME SEASON AND TICKET
VALIDITY --------- AT ANY TIME REVALIDATION IS PERMITTED BY EITHER THE ISSUING AGENT
OR EK OFFICES PER TICKET CHARGE NZD 100.00 FOR REISSUE. CHILD/INFANT
DISCOUNTS APPLY. WAIVED FOR ILLNESS OF PASSENGER OR FAMILY MEMBER OR DEATH
OF FAMILY MEMBER. NOTE - THE ABOVE CHARGE APPLIES PER PASSENGER PER
TRANSACTION AND IS TO BE REFLECTED AS A YR TAX ON THE TICKET ----------- BEFORE
COMMENCEMENT OF TRAVEL ANY CHANGE OF SEASON WILL REQUIRE THE ENTIRE
ITINERARY TO BE RE-ASSESSED BASED ON THE NEW TRAVEL DATE. DIFFERENCE IN
FARE /IF APPLICABLE/ WILL NEED TO BE COLLECTED --------- IF THE NEW ITINERARY
RESULTS IN A LOWER FARE THE NZD 100.00 REISSUE FEE WILL APPLY AND NO REFUND
WILL BE MADE ---------- AT ANY TIME WITHIN TICKET VALIDITY THE FARE CAN BE UPGRADED
TO ANY HIGHER FARE WITHIN THE SAME CABIN RECALCULATED FROM THE POINT OF
ORIGIN PROVIDED THE CONDITIONS OF THE HIGHER FARE HAVE BEEN MET AND THE
APPLICABLE DIFFERENCE IN FARE IS COLLECTED IF THE UPGRADED TICKET IS
SUBSEQUENTLY CANCELLED THE ORIGINAL PENALTY WILL APPLY --------- REISSUE FEE
WAIVED WHEN UPGRADING THE ITINERARY TO A HIGHER CABIN IE FROM ECONOMY TO
BUSINESS/FIRST OR BUSINESS TO FIRST ----------- REISSUES PERMITTED BY EITHER THE
ISSUING AGENT OR EK OFFICES. CANCELLATIONS ANY TIME PER TICKET CHARGE NZD
100.00 FOR REFUND. CHILD/INFANT DISCOUNTS APPLY. WAIVED FOR ILLNESS OF
PASSENGER OR FAMILY MEMBER OR DEATH OF FAMILY MEMBER. NOTE - REFUND
CHARGES ARE NON-COMMISSIONABLE --------------- FOR CALCULATION OF PARTIAL
REFUND THE FOLLOWING METHODOLGY APPLIES ------ DEDUCT THE OW FARE IN THE
SAME RBD. OR IN THE ABSENCE OF OW FARE IN THE SAME RBD DEDUCT 65PCT OF THE
TICKETED FARE. OR IN INSTANCES WHERE THE MARKET OW FARE IS HIGHER THAN
65PCT OF THE TICKETED FARE DEDUCT THE HIGHER OW MARKET FARE APPLY ANY
RESIDUAL AMOUNT AGAINST THE REISSUE FEE AMOUNT AND REFUND ANY RESIDUAL TO
THE ORIGINAL FORM OF PAYMENT / MCO. IN INSTANCES WHERE THE PASSENGER HAS
COMPLETED MORE THAN HALF THE JOURNEY/CROSSED THE TURNAROUND POINT NO
REFUND APPLIES --------- FOR A WAIVER IN CASE OF ILLNESS A COPY OF A VALID MEDICAL
CERTIFICATE ISSUED BY THE ATTENDING /MEDICAL OR DENTAL/DOCTOR IS REQUIRED
CLEARLY STATING THE PASSENGERS ARE UNFIT FOR TRAVEL. ------ FOR A WAIVER IN
CASE OF DEATH A COPY OF A VALID DEATH CERTIFICATE ISSUED BY THE COMPETENT
MEDICAL
Now, from that, I interprated a $100 fee. On the phone to EK, he said I owe EK a total of $13NZD, and this was to be paid at checkin. Does this sound correct?
