Worth upgrading DXB-LHR

Hi all,

My Dad's got a flight coming up KHI-DXB-LHR-ORD and return. Upto LHR is Emirates while the LHR-ORD is on AA all in Business .... Since the DXB-LHR flight is an overnight flight (EK 007 on B777-300ER) he is thinking of upgrading to First using Skywards points so that he can get some sleep.

Is it worth it for this flight? Emirates can be so inconsistent in their product so its worth asking the experts... What can he expect in First?

Regards

Tayyab

Personally I dont see the value in upgrading from J to F for 25K miles. The skycruiser is good but not worth the extra expense for a night flight- (nor for a day flight either IMO)

I'd upgrade if its a private suite.

Hey, I'm going on that flight tonight and I can't even secure a seat in J class (not even with miles). My whole trip DXB-LHR-MAN-BKK-KUL-DXB is in J class except the DXB-LHR sector. Any chance for me to get an upgrade tonight?

I arrived in DXB, went to the lounge & asked if there are any J seats. The guy behind the counter told me no so I couldn't upgrade with miles. In the plane just before take-off I could see an empty seat in J from where I was sitting in Y but I couldn't be bothered anymore. Why didn't they tell me before that in the lounge??

If he's got the points, why not? It's a long enough journey, and the experience is good. Depends really on what other purpose he could use the points for and whether accumulating them for another journey in the future will allow him to upgrade on a longer sector.

No show? Whoever had the seat may have changed his/her plans at the last minute on a flexible ticket.

Cheers,
Rick

On such a short flight (relatively) I doubt he'd get a decent nights sleep anyway so I wouldn't bother...

Most probably a no-show. Happens all the time, esp with EK.
