Checkin at DXB

Can anyone tell me when I would be able to check-in for a DXB-PEK flight? I am arriving on DL at 7pm and the departing flight on EK does not depart until 3am (about 8 hours later). After clearing immigrations and claiming the bags from the DL flight it will be less than 8. But I would like to be able to check the bags with EK...

Is that possible?

You can check in online 24 hours in advance of your EK departure. DL can check your bags through on EK. Show both tickets (and your boarding pass if you printed it out). Check your bag tags to be sure they have PEK as the final destination. If you are not close to a printer 24 hours in advance of your EK flight, you should still be able to check you bags through and just go to the transfer desk to pick up your boarding pass.

I will be able to check-in online? I have a us passport and don't live in the UAE. They will let me check-in online before my flight. Plus I think 24 hours before departure (local UAE time) I will be on in the air somewhere on my way to DXB.

Thank you for giving Delta the opportunity to serve your travel needs.
That is the response from Delta. Would it be possible to check the bags and not clear customs/immigrations and just be considered a in-transit passenger?

Yes, anybody can check in online for flights departing DXB except if you are departing to the US as they need to enter your passport information to submit to Homeland Security. Next time, I would just take Emirates from the US all the way through. The problem with US airlines--especially if you are departing from a smaller city (and surprisingly from big cities too) is that they don't have a clue about international destinations. One of my co-workers had her bag tagged to FCO (Rome) instead of NBO (Nairobi) in Denver. They had no idea.

Delta's response is quite dumb really. Why would you have an interline baggage agreement and then make the passenger claim the baggage and recheck it in? Connecting passengers do not need to reclaim their bags in Dubai. If Emirates can connect a bag to IranAir, certainly DL should be able to figure out how to check a bag onto Emirates-especially as many people do it each day when flying through JFK to DXB.

Interlining...DL to EK

DL can check your bags to your final destination..you need to show them your EK ticket so that they could tag the bags to PEK versus DXB when you check-in initially with DL.

There is a massive transfer desk before customs in DXB where you will get your EK boarding pass (if you don't already have it). You can just visit there anyway to make sure they have your bag tag numbers entered on the EK system side.

Their response is not right. You are a transit passenger at DXB.. and
you should be able to check your luggage till PEK.

Please inquire when you check in for your delta flight.

In case you need to re-claim your bags at DXB, I think you should be able
to check-in at the airport. As far as I recall, they should be able to
check you in early. US bound flights have special check-in procedure
and its not open in advance. (for luggage check-in)
