Will EK201/202 be a daily A380 by the time Heathrow gets it or 3/4 weekly?

That's a long and pricey turnaround in JFK.

Emirates' model centers around Dubai being a central hub. Therefore EK has to time it's flights so that they connect well to flights to Asia / Indian Sub Continent / Middle East (even Africa.)

The two main departure banks are 9-11pm for mist India flights, 12am - 3am and 6am-9am for other flights. A 2300 departure will get EK pax in Dubai in time to connect to these destinations.

Cheers,

Keep in mind it's still 8 months away so there could be some changes.

Totally agree with this. Your both right. It is a long & pricey turnaround, but it is entirely necessary to get the most out of the route only flying twice a day (nonstop). Ideally, a 3am departure ex-JFK which would arrive DXB at midnight but no one wants to fly then...

I had always thought a 3am departure ex JFK made sense but I now realize that it doesn't because connections to India leave late evening (and EK has a lot of transfer pax onto India.) There is a second bank around 0400am but that means even longer layovers if the flight were to arrive around 11pm.

DEL 2230 (also a 0440am though)
BOM 2230 (also a 0400am)
COK 2205 (also 0340am)
MAA 2100 (also 0200am)
BLR 2200 (no early morning option)
HYD 2200 (also 0345am)
TRV 2155 (no early morning option)
AMD 2255 (no early morning option)

The current JFK flight allows excellent connections to all these cities. If it left later, connections would become quite poor.

Cheers,

Didn't see this. Now everything makes sense. Thanks.

Where are the aircraft to go after SYD/AKL? More cities or extra A380s to LHR/JFK? MEL?

Emirates' JFK flights dont rely solely on India. There are a number of other flights that would connect well to a midnight arrival.

IKA 0115
KHI 0130
DAC 0145
KWI 0150
BAH 0230
DOH 0230
MRU 0235
MLE/CMB 0235
MCT 0255

And a number of other flights will be added to this list.

I agree, but if you have a midnight arrival you loose optimal connectivity to those indian destinations (and a connection to BLR,TRV or AMD will become much longer.) However, with the current arrival, pax can connect to India as well as the flights you have listed above.

Does anybody no the times of EK412/413 on the SYD-AKL leg?

Also, If I were to book an upgrade on this, what would be my chances? Will it be more expensive than EK418/419 on the 77W?
