Emirates-V Australia?

Just wondering if anyone thought EK should look into a partnership with V Australia?

I think it would be good. EK could feed pax onto V Australia's flights SYD-LAX/SFO if a cheap enough fare could be offered (have to compete with Asian airlines who have direct flights from which a number of EK international PAX will be coming from unless the direct DXB-SYD). Vice-versa if EK came into LAX/SFO via Europe, V Australia could feed pax onto EK flights.

DJ already allows Velocity Rewards points to be earned on EK flights (EK was first international partner I think) and I believe EK/DJ feed onto each others flights (well, today when I was training with Amadeus it would be DJ domestic, EK international).

I think it would be smart to codeshare until the AU/NZ/US governments give EK the right to offer trans-Pacific flights. SQ will get it first though I think...

There's nothing in it for either airlines. Who would fly from the Middle East/India - the USA via Australia? Only advantage would perhaps be to SYD based customers. How would parent Virgin Atlantic feel? They're already involved on the kangaroo route?

EK would start transpacific using there own metal as well. More profitable.
