To Rollaboard or not to Rollaboard?

The in-cabin Rollaboard ban by EK's JFK Check-in agents seems to wax and wane. The last time I traveled JFK-DXB in Oct they were inspecting all cabin baggage and preventing anyone from taking normal sized Rollaboards into the cabin. They were coercive than I have ever seen in the past. I only got mine through because my Rollaboard comes in right at 45 inches and I whipped out a copy of their cabin baggage policy that explicitly states Rollaboards up to 45 inches (W+H+D) are allowable as I approached the Check-in agent.

I am flying JFK-DxB next Tuesday and was wondering if anyone has had a more recent experience with regard to taking Rollaboards into the cabin?

I do that too! I even have a whole speech prepared of how the Emirates website and call center both say that 45 inches is allowed. Most of the time they say ok and let me go. Once they let me go as soon as I say "but the Emirates Web..." they clearly weren't in the mood to argue.

I really think EK's Check-in Agents at JFK are ex-United Red Carpet Club Dragons or something. It's like they've finally landed a customer service job where they can say no to everyone and get rewarded for it.

Just to report back on my cabin baggage experience ex/ JFK... I was flying as an intending Haji when I left JFK last month and as such no checked baggage or cabin baggage restrictions were applied (I forgot that airlines waive baggage requirements on Hujjaj when I originally posed the question in this thread).
