Lounge access for Silver member + guest ?
Next friday im flying BHX-DXB-BKK for a holiday for a couple of weeks.
This time my trip is not in Biz but in Econ and wonder what the deal is with lounge access for silver skywards members. Im just short of hitting Gold but after this trip or by the time i reach BKK on me outbound will have easily have made it.
My main question is i have a 3 hour connection ....... what is the chance at getting into a lounge at DXB and which one will i be best at going to also what are the chances my friend who is also flying on exactly the same flight will be able to get into the lounge ( he is currently a non-skywards member ) ?
Usually when i have flown biz i have gone into the main Biz lounge by gate 22.
As i willnot get a lounge invition at BHX on checkin ............do i have to basically proceed to the desired lounge and present my Skywards Silver Card ?
Will also have a 3hr connection on return from BKK-DXB-BHX.
Thanks for any help

You can get lounge access as a Silver in DXB. You can also take a guest in.
There is now a lounge that is for Silvers/Golds traveling in economy. It's near gate 9 (I think). You won't be able to get access to the Gate 22 lounge - but both lounges are pretty similar anyway.
Cheers,
Rick

The J lounge at gate 22 is like a down-market cafeteria in a cheap shopping centre. Struggle to find a seat, poor quality food, nothing healthy, cramped and miserable. If it were not for the convenience of somehwere to put hand-luggage, you would be better off eating at one of the venues outside.

The J lounge is great after about 9:30am, right up to about midnight. It struggles after that due to the number of connecting passengers.
The food is better than 90% of airport lounges I've been in - at least you get a choice of something hot (pasta, curry, biryani etc.). There's also plenty of salad type stuff (which I've always considered healthy).
Cheers,
Rick

Not Bitter, Rick, just telling as I saw it last tuesday or monday. Nowhere to sit downstairs...only seats available upstairs in the smoking area...with a few stale pastries. That was at 8-9.00am. I don't know what it's like the rest of the time. There is no Krisflyer PPS lounge at Dubai...but the Star Gold lounge is better
You're sounding very bitter now

I have sampled the BA, *G (I think it was LH or LX), KL and EK lounges at DXB. Even during peak hours, I found DXB by far the nicest. I am lucky in that I usually avoid the peak flying times but even when I land around 6am I can usually find a single seat. To the OP: you should be able to take a guest in without a problem. You can try the main lounge [some people have had success during off peak hours] but my guess is that you are arriving off EK 040 at 00:15 - in this case just head straight to the other lounge.

yes arriving on EK 040 ...
I take it all i have to do is submit my Silver Skywards card at the Desk and hope they let me and my friend in.... we land at DXB at 0005 so will be just at the start of peak hours..... if can get through security pretty quickly then i pressume i have an OK chance to get in as well as my friend.
I assume this lounge also gets rather busy also with all the silver/Gold and biz passengers in along with there guest's.
Thanks for the help so far

On checking in at Birmingham, checkin at the Biz counter, they will give you a voucher for the Lounge at DXB, I think there are two types of lounge passes issued, one for Biz PAX for use at Emirates lounges by Gate 9 & 22 the other is for Silver & gold skywards who have to use the DCA lounge by gate 8
