In this case, Dubai should stock up on its resources. Okay, Dubai has fog. But EK should accept responsibility if they want to remain as successful are they are. This is the point I'm making.

The problem is, Dubai doesn't really get fog often enough to make it worthwhile.

EK will make more money using its fleet as much as possible than putting aside aircraft in the unlikely event of thick fog. (bearing in mind it is also in the process of upgrading planes - a draw on its resources already).

If this were Heathrow or Chicago, with more possibility of low-visibility weather, then yes, there would be more of a case.

As it is, Emirates can more easily afford a few disgruntled passengers - or even a lot of disgruntled passengers - on one day than cut back on routes.

I would also add that, having lived in Dubai for just over two years now, and flying 20 sectors with EK this year (plus other airlines), I've not yet been hit with a delay thanks to weather in DXB - or indeed much else.

(Of course NOW I'm going to get the torrential rain next time I fly - oh well...)
