EK Jakarta

Quick question for you helpful EK fliers!

I'm flying EK 344, DXB-SIN, via Jakarta. It look like we're on the ground for about an hour and 20 minutes in Jakarta.

Do I stay on the plane for this?
Do I have to pass through immigration/require a visa?

Thanks!

I would guess you stay on the a/c, but even if not you would certainly not need to clear immigration or get visa (transfer airside).

i’m not familiar with ek344, but am surprised that it goes to CGK before backtracking to SIN on the same flight number. however, i have recently taken a direct QR flight from CGK to DOH via SIN (one flight number), where pax continuing to DOH did not disembark.

The transfer point at CGK is before the immigration control and there is no immigration control to re-enter the transfer area at CGK. Thus, you should not need a visa (and need not to apply for the "visa on arrival" which is located before the transfer point).

Be sure to follow the transfer area sign and take the escalator back up to the departure area on the 2nd floor.

Immigration definitely not needed. At some transit stops, they allow you to choose between staying onboard or the option of getting off. If you get off, they will issue you a transit boarding pass. Sometimes, they require that everyone get off, and wait in the gate holding area, or sometimes they require all passengers to get off, but allow you to walk around the airport.
