Availability on BKK-CMB issue URGENT

Hi

I'm in Guangzhou for a trip with the inlaws ... but on a tight schedule... basically I plan to change a HKG-BKK flight with TG to monday and issue an e ticket in J from UL website BKK-CMB for the Monday 7th. It was available last night... but no longer tonight...and options are terrible...

The best I found is issuing a J ticket leaving BKK on the 6th than asking to be put on a waiting list for the 7th. Show for the 7th anyway as the 6th I'm supposed to be further away in Guangdong, and won't be able to make it to HKG on time without forcing the whole family to stop their week end earlier. Not good...

I can't really work this out with a TA as I'm far away from BKK and won't even leave the airport while transiting... so...what would be the chances to get a seat on this plane in J? I don't know what it means when UL website says it's full. If I don't get a seat in J can i fly in Y with the same ticket, but at least enjoy the BKK lounge ? or at least the TG lounge as I'll be flying to BKK with TG J ?

Thanks for all information
Luis

Noticed also I can't get a booking for the 11th, when i'm expected in Thailand, even in Y I get sent to the 13th.

Anybody knows how come? Are those flights really totally fully booked??

The 7th is fully zero'd out. I am not quite sure why the flight is so booked, but would assume that with the pull out of EK, restricted schedules of SQ, etc., UL has higher then average demand.

The flight is either very full or maybe cancelled. Many CMB flights are being cancelled giving the current situation there. Airlines zeroes out flights as the step before cancelling them.

I hadn't checked about the situation for a few weeks but your input had me checked on Yahoo... airport closing at night from the tenth and many flight cancelled... I guess I'll first fly to BKK and see from there...

Sorry to hear about those who were at the airport at the wrong time!hope you could get to where you were heading promptly!

I'm not ready to cancell a trip to CMB because of roadchecks and a few bombs as I'm used to the hotel-office-hotel routine there - I've never liked going out in this city and a couple of hotels are OK to spend more than a few hours - but likeliness of beeing stranded in CMB is some dreadful idea.

It seems even UL flights are getting cancelled as on 11 and 12th they don't appear yet, maybe after beeing rescheduled it will change?? Just called their Beijing office and couldn't get any further than the answering machine.

Thanks for giving us updates - those who might know something!

They hurt, but also scare off competition. Business should be interesting at the moment in Colombo. I'm guessing (make it hoping...) UL is adjusting its schedule to the airport closing at night and they'll come up with new flights within a couple of days... otherwise it will be Thailand whole of next week for Luis... not good news...

Anyway today off to the Guangzhou zoo with the nieces and nephew than to Shantou... no bombings nor roadchecks expected...

It seems those flights zero'd out were about to be cancelled. For May 7th UL already shows its new flight:

departure from BKK: 3am+
arrival in CMB: 5am+

With one flight a day they would have needed to think really hard to come up with a worse schedule.

It was already tiring to go to CMB, but it may get worse!

I'm still waiting for the new schedule on 11 and 12th but thinking actively of a contingency plan in Thailand, such a hassle to work with Sri lanka!

CMB is closed from 2230 to 0430.

Keeping in mind that you need at least two hours for the plane to turn around and fly out, if you cannot get in before 2000 then you need to wait until after 0430.

3am UL flight BKK-CMB still doesn't show up on their website for the 8th (but shows for the 7th)

Might check what's going on with UL counter upon arriving in BKK on monday as i'll have quite a few hours to wait anyway if I want to catch that flight.

Any decent deal to expect buying last minute from UL at the airport? Or is there a TA opening late in or near the ame airport??

I'm on the flight on the 7th - and it's only thanks to this thread that I know why the schedule change has occurred. When the hotel concierge was working to reconfirm tickets that had gone all awry after being reconfirmed by CX just 12 hours earlier, she was told there is space available on the 7th.

Does anyone know what lounge UL uses in BKK? and is it open til 3am?
