Funny Complaint I Found
I just stumbled on an Australian consumer complaints website and found this letter of complaint regarding Emirates IFE system. I mean, honestly, in Y they were lucky to get comped a bottle of wine and the 7000 miles is ample compensation. I hope it wasn't anybody on FT
.
.
My partner and I flew an Emirates flight from Sydney to Dubai on the 20/9/06.
The in-flight system they boast of having 500 channels didn't work for the entire journey, that's approx 14 hours.
We had to swap seats every 2 hours so we could each have a turn at watching a movie.
The staff claimed the entire flight was full and wouldnt move us, and gave us a bottle of cheap wine as compensation.
We provided formal feedback and 7 weeks later, still hadn't been contacted bar a couple of "still investigating" emails.
In the end, we had to contact Emirates in Dubai, as we felt an upgrade or a partial refund would be appropriate. They refused and gave us 7000 frequent flyer miles instead, claiming that the fact that the inflight system was broken was not their responsibility.
We emailed a response, saying this was unacceptable last month, and we are still awaiting a reply.

I find the concept of wine against two or three movies quite amusing.
However, asking for an upgrade is also quite amusing. Something close to US$ 1.000 or so value against missing two or three movies...
