Skywards Miles
Hi
I'm new to FT so if I make any mistakes, apologies in advance.
Just purchased 75000 Skywards miles from emirates for my wife, daughter and I. Having spent over an hour on the phone upgrading one of my sectors, I was told I need 2500 for my infant who is travelling with us.
As i've max'd out on buying from emirates does anyone know where I could get 2500 skywards miles from?
Regards,
Neil.

Neil,
Try getting a credit card. If you look on the Skywards page, they have a couple to choose from along with a bank card. I think you have to be a resident of UAE to get the miles though, but you'll have to read the fine print to be sure.

Thanks for the advice. Had a brain wave and got my sister in law to register with Skywards, purchase 2500 miles and donate them to us so tiny crisis over.

Another question I'm hoping someonehas the answer to.
When you redeem miles to upgrade a sector, do Emirates take the miles out of your accoun immediately or wait until your journey has started.
I've just upgraded one sector of my journey and my miles are still sitting in my account.
Oh, one other question, does anyone know if EK20 man-dxb has the new lie flat seats in j class.
Cheeers,
Neil.

In my experience it takes 24 hours for your account to update showing the withdrawn miles, and you might even get an email confirmation if you are lucky
Sometimes it seems that you are awarded full J milage on the sectors that are upgraded other times not. Also you may get chauffer driven car.

sorry, if this may not relate to the original question.
I recently flew emirates and got 10k Skywards miles. I do not foresee travelling with them in the future, so is there anything that i can do with them, ie: transfer them to a different FF account, buy something etc. I am based in the UK, so any vouchers/coupons for UAE are useless for me.
Thanks

You can use them on car hire or Marriott hotels over here in the uk. Otherwise, I think Skywards have a link where you can donate them to one of their chosen charities.
Cheers,
Neil.

One other quick point. They are valid for three years so if you have any plans in that time, might be worth keeping hold of.
Cheers,
Neil.
