Jfk-dxb-jnb

Hey all,

Looking into going to DXB and JNB sometime during the month of June/July of 07 in J. A quick call to Amex's 2 for 1 program yieleded a fare of $3750 per person r/t. I was wondering how "good" a fare that is, considering most fares I have pulled up for the route ~ $7000 per person.

Also, I know the JFK-DXB is on the A345, but what about the DXB-JNB?

Thanks.

Yes, it is a good fare. DXB-JNB vv is on a 777-300ER. JFK-DXB is not neccessarily on the A340-500. I believe it's currently 1x daily A340-500 and 2x daily 777-300ER.

Cheers

My wife and I flew this route back in November -- here is a trip report: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=626164

FYI, our flights were around $6k each and booked on emirates.com -- about $500 less than the AMEX 2 for 1 at the time.

So I guess the A350 is the best of the "J" planes. I guess I can either book that specifi a/c out of JFK, or try the fare ex. IAD?

The brand new J seats on the 777-300ER are really nice when they work, and the 19 inch ICE is AMAZING. Perhaps they've fixed the reliability issues in the 2 months since that trip -- depends on your risk. Personally, I would try the 777-300ER.

According to another thread, the A340-500 J seats will be upgraded beginning in March.
