Strange Schedule/Time Changes

I am booked on flights from DXB to Perth, both of which have been subject to time/schedule changes. None of them are particularly problematic, but I just wondered why they would change – there have been up to 4 changes (listed below) on each of the flights.

EK420 (17/11/06)
DXB 2:35 am – PER 5:20 pm Not operating
DXB 2:35 am – PER 6:20 pm Not operating
DXB 2:35 am – PER 6:21 pm Not operating
DXB 2:35 am – PER 6:22 pm Not operating
DXB 2:35 am – PER 6:20 pm Confirmed after schedule change

EK421 (5/1/07))
PER 10:30 pm – DXB 5:45 am Not operating
PER 11:31 pm – DXB 5:45 am Not operating
PER 11:30 pm – DXB 5:45 am Confirmed after schedule change

Each of the flights seems to be an hour longer now.

Any idea why?

Well that was my original thought, but the last time we travelled, the flights were as originally scheduled (i.e. arrived at 5.20pm and left at 10.30pm). I wonder if it's anything to do with the new 773ER running on the routes as opposed to the previous A343 (maybe 4 engines were faster!).

Would seriously like to know though!

Perth / state of Western Australia does not have daylight savings time. Other states in Australia do.

Traditionally that is right, however I believe WA is introducing daylight savings this weekend, which would explain the changes.

Well done pfish

West Australians will be putting their clocks forward by one hour on December 3, after parliament this week decided on a three-year trial period of daylight saving, followed by a referendum.
