Emirates Airlines

I was told by friends who just bought tickets on Emirates that Emirates has low fares on its website and that travel agents often quote these fares but when you call the airline directly or try to get those fares one is told that those low fares are for standby seats and don't necessarily mean you'll get on that particular flight, the fare for a guaranteed a seat on a specific flight ends up costing like 20% more. Has anyone heard of any concept like this or were they just mislead by the travel agent?

You might want to have this thread moved to the EK forum.

I've often seen inconsistencies on the offered fare. If you call them
it might be higher compared to their web site.

And sometimes, the travel agents wouldnt see any low fares as available.

and I would even see all the seats sold out on certain flights a couple
of months in advance...

Its could be.. either TAs holding onto seats..
or the airline controlling the fare and seats. not sure whats the case,

If you find the cheaper fare on EK's website (compare to what TA or EK phone agents price), just go ahead and book on website. What more do you need to worry about?
