Will EK ever fly to LAX?

Hi,

Will EK ever start flying to LAX? The rumor is that they are looking at the west coast to expand. Can anyone shed some light? M

An additional US service will be launched by 4Q 2007 by which time 3x B777-200LRs will have been delivered. The shortlist of routes is DXB-LAX, DXB-SFO and DXB-IAH. It will be operated daily.

As more B777-200LRs get delivered in 2008 additional routes will be opened.

When is that? When does EK will ever more US expansion for 772LR flight to LAX, SFO or IAH. I can't explain something about EK is doing for getting their first B777-200LR.

According the great circle mapper. It does good more range the 777-200LR to get there in USA is:

DXB-LAX 8,339 miles long
DXB-SFO 8,103 miles long
DXB-IAH 8,168 miles long

All of those good longer flight more than 15 hours to get there in USA. I can't imagine when EK will coming to USA. I supposed EK will being ready for more nonstop to LAX, SFO or IAH. Maybe it should be free up some of A345 to another cities.

As you seem to be 'in the know' :-)

Is there any truth in the DXB-MAN-IAH-MAN-DXB rumour? It keeps getting mentioned.

Cheers,
Rick

IAH is sooo boring

I understand the black gold draw to IAH but LAX or even SFO is a much better destination for a company that is trying to draw the US Dollar. The west coast has much more to offer from the entertainment, tourist, and high tech industries. This is just my 2 cents. I would for sure fly this route from LAX just for fun to experience EK service. I would have a harder time heading to IAH or IAD having to use an American airline to get there.

EK are more interested selling F/J class point to point seats to the US rather than catering for 'just for fun' flyers.

OK, you may get a few tourists who want to visit Dubai, but there will be very little in the way of connecting passengers. Who in their right mind would go from the west coast of the US to the Far East/Australasia via the Atlantic & Middle east?

Cheers,
Rick

Amadeus shows the usual double daily MAN-DXB flights for summer 2007.

There is some rumour that EK is thinking about a Dubai - Washinghton flight via Dsseldorf (like DXB-JFK via HAM).
I think that will happen not too soon.

sounds interesting

Now if they flew DXB-LHR-JFK/YYZ (not sure if they can due to freedom rights and what not) I'd be really excited
